Here, the author skilfully combined the symbol of peace and freedom – the dove and the “gate from Krč – the all-time symbol of Turopolje into a harmonious whole. The dove is located on a beam supported by two columns inclined towards each other. These columns represent the karst gate of Turopoljski Lug – a unique monument to human work. Under the door and the dove there is a granite monolith on which the names of the fallen defenders from Velika Gorica are engraved.

The monument was erected on August 24, 2008. Every year, during national holidays, holidays and memorial days, Croatian veterans are honored by laying wreaths and candles at the “Dove” monument so that the victims of the war will never be forgotten.

The author of the monument, Mladen Mikulin, was born in 1958 in Velika Gorica. He lives and works in Vukovina. He graduated in sculpture in 1986 at the Academy of Fine Arts in Zagreb.
