The memorial park of the 153rd Brigade of the Croatian Army in Velika Buna, which stretches over 26,486 square meters, is a special place where you can learn about the war path of the famous Velika Gorica brigade, as well as get up close to the imposing military exhibits. The T-55 tank, howitzers, and mortars are only part of the exhibits installed in the park, which were also used by members of the Brigade during the Homeland War. There is also an aircraft MiG-21. It was produced in 1981 in the former USSR, and was part of the Croatian Army from 1993 to 2003.

Near the Captain Josip Zidar barracks in Velika Buna, there is also a Memorial Home with maps, photos and weapons. There, the entire journey of the Brigade is shown, from its formation, mobilization, occupation of the Republic of Croatia to the end of the war, which ended with the Operation Storm.

The Velikogorica brigade, as part of the “Storm” military operation, took part in the liberation of Glina, and was the first to enter Topusko. This was followed by guarding the state border with Bosnia and Herzegovina until September 14, 1995, when she famously returned to Velika Gorica, where she was given a magnificent welcome. As many as 5,818 members passed through the brigade, of which 72 warriors gave the most they could give – their lives.

The memorial park and the memorial home of the 153rd Brigade are museums that honor all fallen veterans and members of the brigade, but also all fallen veterans of Velika Gorica who fought on all battlefields from Vukovar to Dubrovnik. It is the best way to honor them and preserve the memory of the truth about the Homeland War.
