Chapel of the Holy Spirit Virtual walk

Lučelnica
when the village of Dubranec burned down that year, the parishioners made a vow that they would have a holy mass in the chapel of the Holy Spirit in honor of St. Florian, the patron saint of firefighters, so that with God's help, the village would be protected from fires in the future.

The Chapel of the Holy Spirit in Lucelnica has existed since 1678. This archaic wooden beauty is built from oak beams, which are the trademark of Turopolje architecture. In the beginning, it did not have a bell tower, and there was a cemetery around it. Holy Mass was celebrated here on the third day of All Souls’ Day and the first Sunday after Florian’s Day. The reason for this lies in an unfortunate event that took place in 1879. Namely, when the village of Dubranec burned down that year, the parishioners made a vow that they would have a holy mass in the chapel of the Holy Spirit in honor of St. Florian, the patron saint of firefighters, so that with God’s help, the village would be protected from fires in the future.

The Descent of the Holy Spirit is a painting that initially adorned the altar, but in 1704 the chapel was demolished and a new chapel was built. Then the newly built chapel was slightly larger and got its own bell tower, and later a painting of the Holy Trinity was added to the inventory of this wooden beauty. Today’s chapel was built in 1935 and is a true example of the beauty of traditional Turopolje architecture. A smaller altar in folk baroque style with statues of St. Floriana and St. Jurja and a valuable painting of the Coronation of the Blessed Virgin Mary. The inside of this wooden beauty is decorated with a wooden Way of the Cross made by a local artist, Mate Mihinica from Obrezina.
